Unfortunately, due to the highly restrictive nature of the diet, vegans are at risk of being deficient in certain nutrients such as calcium and vitamin B12 usually found in dairy and meat respectively.

Many people still believe that a vegan diet is deficient in essential nutrients, or that it is not sustainable for long-term health. Additionally, vegans may face negative stereotypes, such as being viewed as “preachy” or “judgmental.”

Beer and Wine Isinglass, a gelatin-based substance derived from fish, is used as a clarifying agent in some beer and wine. Other non-vegan ingredients sometimes used are casein (from milk) and egg whites.

Level 5 vegan Level 5 vegans also avoid all animal-derived products such as eggs, dairy products, meats, fish and seafood, and will also avoid any food products where accidental traces of animal products may feature. They will also avoid leather, gelatin, and some food colourings.
